The Advantages of using Green Energy
Energy is something all of us need to heat our homes and power all of our appliances. In recent times the demand for energy, for example electricity, has increased dramatically. It is due to this increase that there is now so much competition between providers, it is also due to this demand that there is now so much choice when it comes to what type of energy we are making use of; but with so much choice available to us, which is it we should be making use of? In my opinion the answer to this question is simple we need an energy source that is efficient, environmentally friendly and good value for money; we need the help of green energy.
We are all aware of the increasing threat from global warming but are we really doing enough to combat it? Fighting global warming is in fact one of the many advantages associated with the use of green energy, this is because gaining your energy source from aspects such as solar or hydro power as well as wind turbines does not emit anything harmful into the environment, unlike fossil fuels. Burning coal, oil and gas as a means of providing our energy releases carbon dioxide and other harmful substances into the atmosphere, polluting our air and increasing global warming, but that’s not all. Fossil fuels are a form of energy that will eventually run out; in fact oil is expected to dry up within a decade whereas green energy is renewable so it will never run out.
So as well as not polluting the environment what are the other advantages associated with the use of green energy? One that stands out is the low maintenance. Although green energy facilities are generally expensive to build, they require less maintenance so in the long run you actually end up not having to shell out a lot of money and on the topic of capital; green energy sources can also bring about economic benefits to certain areas, which can then even go on to boost tourism.
There are however always arguments against this type of energy provider, for example people often argue the fact the weather is something we cannot control and as renewable sources rely on this to work, what will happen in really bad conditions? Well despite the fact that we don’t generally get very severe weather conditions strong enough to cause any sort of effect on this, even in the unlikely event that we did the emergency generators will be activated and use up the energy that is stored continually from renewable sources.
Any disadvantages that are thrown at green energy can easily be outweighed by the advantages of it, regardless of what type of green energy source you make use of. So it could actually not only benefit the environment but also benefit you if you were to change from your current provider to a green one and with more of these providers becoming available you will never be spoilt for choice, ensuring you will get the best energy deal available to you.
